What is included in a Pump & Motor rebuild?
All disassembling, cleaning interior, new bearings, seal, and capacitors, testing.
Why is my pump leaking?
The most common reason is the water balance. There is incorrect water chemistry in either your pool or hot tub.
90% of pool & spa problems are due to incorrect water chemistry. Water chemistry analysis uncovers several things about water quality:
- Is the water corrosive? Corrosive water can dissolve materials that it comes in contact with. Rust is an example of corrosion. In a pool, corrosive water can cause pitting of grout and concrete surfaces, and erosion of pool equipment, such as metal fittings, ladders, and copper tubing in the heater.
- Is there scale deposits in the water? Scale is usually a mineral compound consisting mainly of calcium or magnesium carbonates or calcium sulphate. Scale can cause issues with pool filters and heaters, and can create a rough texture on concrete pool surfaces. Sudden scaling can cause cloudy pools.
- Is the water balanced? If so, there is no corrosion or scaling. Chlorine or bromine levels are irrelevant and all the following factors (parameters) are within the recommended range: 1. Temperature (700-900F), 2. Total Dissolved Solids (1000 ppm), 3. pH (7.2-7.8), 4. Calcium hardness (200-275 ppm), 5. Total alkalinity (80-120 ppm in a chlorine pool & 120-150 ppm in a bromine pool). If one or more factors (parameters) are below the proper range while the remaining factors are within, the water is corrosive. If one or more factors are above the proper range while the remaining factors are within, the water will scale. If all factors are in the proper range, the water is balanced.
